Review: Ubuntu 14.04 (Trusty Tahr)

Ubuntu 14.04 was released on 16th April 2014. I have installed the operating system and using it as my primary OS since past week or so.


I really loved it.

Ok! its time to start loving the Unity Bar as it has been given the much needed stability and looks more polished and finished product.

One the first thing that you would note is the lock screen that has changed drastically to a full screen visual treat instead of a white box found versions 13.10 and prior.

Also lot of Google apps have native instances. In the sense you do not need to open a browser to use some of the basic web apps/accounts. You would offered suggestions as and when you browse on the Mozilla Firefox. For example.  when you for the first time navigate to www.outlook.com it would offer you to configure the native livemail web app. Web account sync and setup is a breeze on Ubuntu 14.04 with support for a lot of account types.


In the general the stability of the OS is pretty awesome with no hick-ups when I had 10 applications running simultaneous doing different jobs (without Idle time)

Tip! The resolution of the screen seems to be better in 'Radiance" theme than the default "Ambiance"



Firefox is too fast on the Ubuntu 14.04. You would love surfing on Firefox I bet. The loading times are too quick and pleasure to browse though various sites simultaneously.

The visual effects of the on the new OS is stunning and Windows/Macs have a formidable competition on cards. Overall the entire OS is nicely polished and looks great.


This time the release was perfect as many Windows XP users looking for alternative would go for the Ubuntu given that the support for windows XP has ended.

On the software front all the applications have been migrated to their latest version.

Close you eyes and delete all the thoughts your mind is trying to cruise through. Switch off mind for sometime. Just focus on current moment.

If at all you think of anything past you are only re-calling the joyous moments and something annoying comes up hit yourself and tell for yourself "let me be myself and I do not bother what happened in someone else's life"

Number Five, Engage:
Spend time doing the most interesting or the most loved thing you would life to do. Interact with dear ones. If you have not spoken to someone for long time send a message. Start a conversation. Keep it going.

You would unneccesarily take more responsibility (which you never asked for). More responsibility = More Stress = Less life = Less you

How to not fall in financial trouble

Generally people fall in debt or some sort of situation where in they are facing severe cash crunch with no positive hope from any direction. More often this situation arises when you have not planned and got into a marital relationship.

For the just married, confused (make sure you have a gap of at-least 24 to 36 months between you 1st day at new job to 1st day of married life)

1. When you start earning make sure you spend the first three months of money for whatever you wish and your mind thinks of and which you can afford out of your own income.

2. From the 4th month onwards. set aside a fractional amount of money say 10% (or for that matter 1% of the income for some sought of savings.

3. Now from 4th Month till 7th month spend all the 99% or 90% (depending on what you decided in previous step) of money as you wish.

4. Now the real game starts: from the 8th month onwards set aside 35% of the income strictly to savings.

5. On the 1st day of the married life you would be all the way smiling just looking at the secured state of your financial affairs.

Last but not the least, when you are saving make sure you split it between you, your spouse expenses/pension schemes and on the other hand you child's birth/future expenses.

When searching for a rent house always make sure it is vaastu complaint. Vaastu is nothing but the prescribed arrangement of house elements with scientific proof for more positive energy inflow and prosperity.

• Is the new house positive on all the aspects or at-least 90% of the aspects compared to the current accommodation.
