Opinion: Ravi Shashtri becoming Indian team coach

Firm decision maker, Good control, Selfish, performance squeezer

In simple words Ravi Shashtri can be discribed as above. I would attribute all the success Indian team had when he was the team manager/director. Instead it should be noted that Virat Kohli and the senior folks worked hard to strategise and plan for each situation during that time frame.

The coach selection - 1st episode

In the initial edition after a long gap where in India did not have a full time coach and the BCCI was in turmoil the coach selection process went into lot of controversies. Ganguly and Ravi Shashtri spat over how the interview itself was conducted etc. Which ended with the CAC (Cricket Advisory Committee) recruiting Anil Kumble as a full time coach during that point in time. Also Ravi quit the team mentoring role.

Once It was "displayed" or "showcased" that there was not everything going rite between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble the great politics of Indian flower reached the international media.

All of a sudden Virat started complaining about the bossy attitude of Kumble during team selection an strategies of the team are concerned. In the end it's always the captain who wins in the Insian cricket and hence Anil Kumble on whom The Indian cricket team had much of its success in recent times had to quit voluntarily so that the captain in not shown in bad light to the world.

Even while selecting the new coach norms where broken and Ravi's candidature was outrageous considered to put him on the front line and hence appoint as tw coach of Indian team. Hopefully Indian team's success continues the way it is now and wishing Ravi Shashtri all the best in his new role.

India - China - Border Standoff - Whats at stake for each side?

Significance of the area in dispute - what's at stake for India:

You might have read about the ongoing the India China Border Standoff near the Doko la in Sikkim since over a month. This region is strategically important for India as it overlooks the "chickens area neck" which connects the Eastern states with the Indian Mainland. If China is able to annex the Doko la region it would be that China can have a hawk of Indian troop movements and civilian movements as well.

Even though the region under dispute is not earmarked as Indian territory it is still an area o contention as the countries, India, China and Bhutan have a treaty signed to maintain status quo in the area without altering its geographical texture.

India is also bound to help Bhutan as part Bilateral security arrangement India has with Bhutan. According this is arrangement the said countries would help each other whenever is a risk to each other's sovereignty.

Whats are stake for China?

China has nothing to lose if a war doesn't break out. If India backs off acceding the territory to China then China stands to gain a lot in this standoff. However, if India continues to hold on to its position and becomes reluctant. Then China has to think on multiple fronts before going offensive on India as China is currently in crosshair in international Diplomacy as it is dealing with the North Korean crisis and south china sea dispute.

China, being a mature nation and huge economy which has off late slowed down would not risk of getting cornered internationally.
