Experiences in a startup organisation

Working in a startup organization in India.

These experiences may be some thing generic or few of them may be specific to me

1. Your role is never defined and you should be ready to work in a wide variety of Job roles.

You would not be able to go in with a mindset that for next one year I will concentrate on this and polish my career. No you should have a open mind to accept things as they come along.

2. Friends change everyday.

In a span on three months an entire team would have swapped for fresh faces. So do not be discouraged or demotivated when you see people leaving. Probably at the end of one year you might be one of the oldest employees of the organization.

3. Your location is never constant.

Based on the on the responsibilities you have taken up your place to sit will be varying and never have settled approach in a startup. You would need to be dynamic and quick thinker.

4. Jobless days.

There might be a brief amount of time where in you might not be doing anything and sitting idle. Do not let your mind fool you and take control of your thoughts. Stay calm and focus, look around and think of how you can improve things which are in your purview.

Hope this helps.

Five Myths about Marriage relationship

Hi Guys, Today wanted to discuss some of the myths about the marriage life.

1. Love marriages are more than often unsuccessful.

I believe any relationship is unsuccessful if  the people involved in it do not have the intent to have a strong understanding. So this myth is a serious Joke!

2. All the wives are generally low on intellectuality.

The way each other perceive their opinions is a matter of great importance. I believe if one of the two has control over his/her emotions then intellectuality is a subjective topic.

3. Over time sexual arousing declines between couples declines after marriage.

If you "Loved" him/her and not "Liked" him/her then this is a myth else this is true!

4. 'Love' is a quantitative substance that declines overtime after marriage.

If an individual assumes that he/she is one in there biological and mental anatomy then this myth doesn't apply. For all others who feel this myth is true are either faking or just liking their partners.

5. Children are a hindrance and hence you should not conceive early in married life.

Actually it is exactly opposite. You would deprive you kid to be part of the great life you have just started and your kids would actually make your life merrier.

Good bye!

User research in depth

Some take aways from what I have learnt:

1. Theories on the user's responses should always suit and be oriented towards user's real experience than the other way around.

2. Always write down the research questions "?"

3. No assumptions, thorough homework (historical research reports, existing knowledge, streamlined approach by having a clear path on research questions, background details..)

4. Opinions are not facts, and speculation is not evidence. key="CAREFUL OBSERVATION"

5. Open minded with no predefined filters is the way forward for an user interview. all the filtering and relevance questions come later.

6. "Cognitive walk-through" - Formalized  way of imagining the user's thoughts and actions when they use an interface  for the first time.
    a. Happy path - simple and straight forward way of accomplishing a task
    b. Will the customer realistically be trying to do this action?
    c. Is the control for the action visible?
    d. Is there a strong link between the control and the action?

Tips to eliminate loneliness

I myself went through the the loneliness experience and trust me it is difficult to handle the emotions.
You tend to blast out at the dear ones once they reappear after a brief period of spending alone.

This happens when you are alone in pockets of periods constantly over a span of months or years.

This will trigger unnecessary and some time violent thoughts leading to distrust and disbelief among your family members. And slowly will show up on yourself with you behaving very untowardly when you are supposed to react perfectly normal.

You need to make sure you speak out regularly to people whom you are close with and stay most of the time and you family members so that you mind is tamed on a timely manner without you flaring up.

Problems/Issues: Loneliness, Frustration, Personal warmth not present
Solution: Share or mingle online or offline either with friends or family, But on a regular interval of time. Too much gap in time will give the mind to control you instead of other way around.

Hope this helps!

Market Research and User Research

Market research and user research are very different in terms of objective, methods and approach.

Market Research

Market research is generally used as a tool to provide some guidance and act as a guiding light to the key decision makers in an organization, with regards to entering a new product domain, geography or trying out pricing strategies. Market research always has broad insight when it comes to results. As in, the sheer size of the sample and the number of feedbacks collected would be very large mainly to generate some confidence and have proven data for analysis to venture into new things as said earlier.

Market research is about user's opinion, what a user has to say about a product.

Where as user research focuses on usage and needs or unsaid expectations/opinions of a user towards a product. These unsaid patterns are captured via various methodologies like face to face interviewing, shadowing, observing, focus groups etc. User research is used to capture the essence of the users words, sentences, etc. basically his "opinion" understood in a more deep dive approach questioning and challenging the ideas and perceptions of user feedback within ourselves.

User Research

User research is all about the extracting of hidden narrow insight of user by painting the pattern of the feedback received overtime, be it via observation, verbal, visual. Which would address many aspects of a organization and trigger, out of the box thinking in the process of finding ways to solve the user's unsaid pain points. At a later stage the market research would help find if these out of the box ideas are viable in market, if yes where, when and how.
